How do I use AlgoApp with an AI assistant through MCP?

Connect your AI assistant to AlgoApp

AlgoApp has an MCP server at mcp.algoapp.ai. MCP (Model Context Protocol) lets a compatible AI assistant work with your AlgoApp account when you ask it to.

Set up the connection

  1. In your AI assistant's integrations or MCP settings, add a remote MCP server.
  2. Use https://mcp.algoapp.ai/mcp as the server URL. If it asks for a transport, choose Streamable HTTP.
  3. Start the connection, review the requested account access, and complete the AlgoApp sign-in page using your account email and the verification code sent to it.
  4. Return to the assistant and ask it to list your AlgoApp decks to check the connection.

Use the same AlgoApp account you use in the app. Your assistant must support remote MCP servers with OAuth sign-in; setup labels and availability depend on the assistant.

Make and manage flashcards

You can ask your assistant to:

  • List your active decks, including decks available through sharing.
  • Create a deck and draft cards from a topic or material you provide. For example: "Create an AlgoApp deck with 20 French travel phrases and English meanings."
  • Draft more cards for an existing deck. For example: "Add 10 more practice cards to my French Travel deck."
  • Save the draft cards you choose. In a supported client, review and edit the draft table, select the cards, and choose "Save cards". Creating a deck alone does not save the draft cards.
  • Change a deck's name or field configuration. Describe the intended change and review it carefully, since configuration changes affect the whole deck.

The interactive draft-card table requires support from your AI client. If it does not appear, use a client that supports the table to review and save drafts. Once saved, open AlgoApp and sync to study the cards.

Share and manage Study Groups

You can ask the assistant to:

  • list your Study Groups and show a group's members, invitations, and shared decks
  • create or rename a group
  • invite members by email or remove a member
  • share a deck directly with email recipients
  • add a deck to a Study Group or remove its share from the group

For example: "Create a Biology Study Group and invite sam@example.com" or "Share my Cell Biology deck with my Biology Study Group."

These actions use your account's permissions. Removing a deck share from a group removes that share; it is not a request to delete the original deck.

Account, subscription, and help

You can also ask it to:

  • show your account information or change your display name
  • check your subscription status, billing provider, and expiration when available
  • cancel a web/Stripe subscription at the end of its billing period; for Apple subscriptions, get instructions to cancel through Apple
  • show recent release notes for a platform
  • contact AlgoApp support about a problem and return the new ticket ID

For example: "What changed recently in AlgoApp for Windows?" or "Contact AlgoApp support about the sync error I described."

Sharing, inviting people, changing account details, canceling a subscription, and submitting a ticket perform real actions on your account. Check the intended recipients and changes before confirming them in your assistant.

If it does not connect

Use the full URL ending in /mcp and complete sign-in in your assistant. Opening that endpoint directly in a browser may show an authentication error; it is a connection endpoint, not the flashcard app. Reconnect if the assistant reports that sign-in has expired.
