Can I import decks from spreadsheets (CSV)?

Prepare a CSV

Save the spreadsheet as a UTF-8, comma-separated .csv file. Each row becomes one card. Do not include a header row: headings would be imported as a card.

Columns have fixed meanings; there is no column-mapping step:

1. Front text
2. Back text
3. Optional card tags, separated by commas within the cell
4. Optional front image filename
5. Optional back image filename
6. Optional front audio filename
7. Optional back audio filename

Use up to seven columns. Leave an unused optional column blank if you need a later one. Remove rows with both front and back text blank.

For example, this three-column CSV imports two tagged cards:

Hello,Bonjour,"greetings,french"
Goodbye,Au revoir,"greetings,french"

Exporting from a spreadsheet normally handles quoting for you. A tags cell containing commas must be quoted in the CSV so it stays in one column.

Import

1. In AlgoApp, open "Import Decks" and select "CSV".
2. Choose the file and check the deck title.
3. Choose "Begin Import" and wait for it to finish. CSV import needs an internet connection.

Images and audio

Put one CSV file and its media files in a ZIP. Use the exact filenames or paths inside that ZIP in columns 4–7, then import the ZIP from the CSV tab. This is different from an AlgoApp XML ZIP, which belongs in the AlgoApp tab.

Imported tags can be used in the deck's Tags review filter.
